In April 1910 Durban witnessed the first aeroplane flight by Austrian aviator Albert Kimmerling near what is today the Race Course at Clairmont. In 1937 the Imperial Airways introduced a flying boat service between London and Durban which 6 days. And landed in Durban Harbour. The service was terminated in 1947. Durban’s first airport was opened at Stamford Hill in 1937 and then moved to Prospecton where it currently operates from.
