The development of tugs and the battle of the sand was critical in Durban harbour’s development. This was eventually resolved through the dredging.
Other working ships facilitated the docking of cargo and passenger ships.
Early passenger (ships, sail and then steam) followed by the graceful ocean liners docked in Durban.
