William Kenneth Macrorie (1831-1905) The Anglican bishop of PIetermaritzburg's Church of the Province. Bishop Gray invited him in 1867 to become the Bishop of Natal but in subsequent litigation, Colenso retained that title and consequently, the title of Bishop of Maritzburg was created for Macrorie in 1869. He and his supporters built churches, schools, and missions throughout Natal. The bitter controversy between the two church parties continued until the end of the century. Macrorie resigned in 1891 after 22 years of office and returned to Britain. The churches re-uninted after many years of separation.
